Learning God’s Love/Blessings

Over the pre-weekend in Quiet Time or Friday in Quiet Time, God told me to read 1 John chapter 4. Then he told me to read Luke 9:23.

1 John 4 is a chapter in the Bible that talks about God’s love and how we should Love one another.

1 John 4: 9-11

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God,  but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved,If God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

Note that the whole Bible explains God’s Love for humanity and he sends Jesus Christ to reconcile us back to him.

This morning when I walked into Sunday School, the lesson just so happened to be, “Contagious Love.”

So when I walked in one of our Pastors asked, so Sister Shade’ can you explain what you think  Love is?

So I say, “Love means to be forgiving,  it means to be (selfless), even when others treat another person wrong and say that that person is bad we should contine to love the person who is being hated. Regardless of what is said about that person,we have to Love them. Just because Someone else doesn’t like that person, we should Love each other, just like God loves us because.. (God has no respect of person)

Luke 9:23

If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

So, I learn from this scripture  that in order to do the things of God he wants us to Obey him, by denying ourselves daily. To die to our own desires, to be selfless and to live for him. To Love one another.

When I was finishing cooking today,  I was in conversation with God and said “you know what Lord, I’m learning this year what Love is.”

I say to God, ” you are the puzzle piece to my puzzled heart that I have been missing. You are my heart, you are literally everything that I did not know that I needed.”

After Church today an older woman stopped me and said “Oh, Sister I have something I want to give you.

She says, “What size shoes are you? Aren’t you the same size as me? Do you wear heels?   I’m going to keep on blessing and blessing and blessing and blessing you.

After she asks me to return her bag so she can fill it up with more shoes to give me, She stopped and asked, “what are you doing now since you have graduated college? ”

I tell her my situation,  and she says, “Well hasn’t God been keeping you through all this?”

I say, “Yes, Yes he has!”

She opens her arms and welcomes me in for a loving hug.

She didn’t even know why she keeps wanting to be a blessing to me but,

all of this is nothing but God’s Love!

Again, after Church I’m driving past Super Lube, and finally go in for an oil change after being very late on my oil change. The man who is changing my oil says, Here’s what I will do I will check to see if everything is good.” By the time he was done checking he said today’s cost will only be $5, to top it off.

I was going in thinking I would have to spend money, but God made a way for me.

My mom doesn’t agree with me that, that $5 top off was anything to be happy about. But, I know God sets up certain blessings in certain times and in certain seasons.

I did become frustrated After I told my mom what God did for me, and she basically denied it. But I’m also learning that I have to be longsuffering and still Love no matter What!

1 Corinthians 13

http://bible.com/111/1co.13.1-13.NIV If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.  Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.  And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
